Study on Plateletpheresis Using Fenwal CS-3000

Abstract
|
|
|
Fenwal CS-3000 blood separator is a new computer-controlled, continuous flow blood cell separator to harvest platelets, leukocyte, lymphocyte and perform plasma exchange.
Plateletpheresis is the centrifugal separation of platelets from whole blood with a continuous return of platelet-poor red cells and plasma to the donor.
We perform 50 plateletpheresis using Fenwal CS-3000 for thrombocytopenia patients admitted to the Chung Ang University Hospital from November 1989 to May 1990.
Platelet yields were 3.7±0.9x1011, and plateletpheresis efficiency was 39.0±7.0%, with a little cross-cellular contamination.
Hematologic changes of donors after apheresis was relatively small, 16.9% increment of WBC, 44.2 decrement of platelet and no change of hemoglobin and hematocrit.
